2016 Summer Fire Ride

The 2016 “Fire Ride” was a great experience. Rich King invited me to ride along with him for an amazing ride to Afton Wyoming. The ride covered three states, Utah Idaho and Wyoming the “WY UA HO” ride supports the fallen firefighter’s memorial and was sponsored by Symbol Arts.

The group of mostly Harley Davidson's meet at Symbol arts in South Ogden and headed north through Logan to Preston Idaho. The fire department in Preston had breakfast ready for all of the riders when we arrived. We then headed north to Soda Springs and across “Tin Cup” to Afton Wyoming where we were escorted into town and had a BBQ lunch at the Afton fire station.

The ride covered about 250 miles and since it was a dead end ride so everyone was free to find their own way home. I could have continued on to Jackson or down to Bear Lake however the rain had caught up to us so I decided to return to Salt Lake via Preston. There were several other riders who took this route back, I think there were twelve or so bikes that went back this way.

Once we arrived in Preston I headed over to Tattles for a hot cup of coffee and dried off my helmet visor then headed back along my usual route through Trenton and across to Tremonton. The freeway home was not really fun but it was quick and I really did not have any time to spare. I had called home to Teresa and told her I was going to stay the night at Lava Hot Springs but to her surprise I arrive home just a little after 8:00.

I was very impressed with the riders as a group, they were very save and considerate riders, everyone rode in staggered formation and they were all experienced riders. Since I normally ride Solo this was a new experience for me. I was the only BMW in the group.
